I am currently favouring easy-to-read fictional novels over my usual choice of spiritual//self-help. Here’s my curated collection that have kept me tapping my Kindle.
Revival Season: The daughter to a ‘famous’ Baptist preacher discovers her father is not as he appears to the church followers. This brings her to question her faith. A story about spiritual awakening and disillusionment as well as feminism and finding your voice.
Local Women Missing: A young teenager returns after missing for 11 years. Her mothers still no where to be found. The continual search leads to more questions that answers.
Seven Days in June: “Seven days to fall in love, fifteen years to forget and seven days to get it all back again”… this says it all!
Firekeeper’s Daughter: A thriller about an Ojibwe teenager who is asked to go undercover in a drug investigation in her small community because of her knowledge in chemistry and traditional tribal medicine.
The Last Thing He Told Me: A riveting mystery about a women who thinks she has found the love of her life - until he disappears. The narrative alternates between past and present as the story depicts the evolving nature between the woman and her daughter.
Such A Fun Age: A story around race and privilege, telling a story of a young black women is wrongly accused of kidnapping while she is babysitting a white child.
