Importance of Natural Protein

Protein is a necessary component to your diet to facilitate your cells to renew and repair optimally. It is a basic building block of enzymes, hormones, fluid and electrolyte balance, pH balance, transport, antibodies, wound healing and energy source.

Adding protein powder to your smoothie in the morning may be the simplest method to add more protein to your diet, but it is definitely not recommended from a naturopathic point of view.

The risks of digesting a protein powder as a dietary supplement are:

  1. Evaluation of what the powder contains is left to the manufacturer…. scary!

  2. The data of side//longterm effects are limited.

  3. They cause digestive distrupt to the organs natural flora, creating digestive issues.

  4. They are high in added sugar.

  5. Reports of toxins such as heavy metals, pesticides, bishpenol-A, linking to cancer have been released. (Harvard Health Publishing)

So…. here are some natural suggestions to add to your diet, as per your choice. The options can be added to directly to your shake or you can make a smoothie bowl and add the ingredients on top.

2 tbs chia seeds = 6g

2 tbs hemp hearts = 8g

2 tbs flax seeds = 4g

1 tbs almond butter = 4g

2 tbs oats = 1g

2 tbs goji berries = 1g

Handful of walnuts = 4g
